Bristol Bilbao who joined the Bristol and Suburban League in 2012 have become the first team to maintain a 100% record during a Season.
Secretary Derek Cumner commented that he has gone through all the League Handbooks back to the 1920’s and cannot find any team in any Division that has won every game, we have a number of teams which have remained unbeaten over the years but none that has won every game.
In their first Season in 2012-2013 Bristol Bilbao won the Division Six Championship and the Len Bartlett Trophy beating Broadwalk 3 1 but lost in the GFA Primary Cup Final to Sartan United.
The Management Committee promoted Bristol Bilbao to Division Three for this season where they kept a 100% record, also winning the GFA Intermediate Cup Final against Sneyd Park Reserves 4 2 and the only game they lost was in the Len Bartlett Cup Final against their old foes Sartan United.
The team is based on a group of friends ran by Manager Ben Lewis and Secretary Cory Clark, four players reached double figure with strikers Cory Clark and Nick Joyce both scoring over 40 goals, Nathan Stokes added 23 with Shaun Blake notching ten.
Ben Lewis said to win the League was a great achievement it shows great character especially at the end of the season, credit to all the lads and to win the GFA cup was a big highlight, with Clark adding his thanks to all the supporters family and friends who turn up week on week.
